Happy New Year and Welcome to a new customer, Pourquoi Pas Patisserie!

Happy 2023, coffee lovers! As we head into the new year, we're thinking of friends old and new.

When we started this endeavour, it was March 2020 and the world was learning how to live during a pandemic. Like many of you, we sat at home watching the news and Netflix wondering what we should do. We had just signed a lease and we needed to build our roastery. So, with masks firmly in place and our dear friends Mark, Vic, Greg and Ron, who each brought their skills and humour (both of which were much needed), we built our Roastery. We couldn't have done it without them, and we are grateful for all of their assistance and great ideas.

And now here we are in 2023 with a growing business and many new friends and customers! We're enjoying meeting new people as they discover us and share our coffee with friends and colleagues. It's a friend of a new customer that we met recently at Beanstalk: a business called Pourquoi Pas Patisserie at 1194 Lansdowne Dr #304 in Coquitlam who are using our delicious Retrospresso beans as their house espresso and also selling our beans by the one-pound bag.

The patisserie (meaning "where French pastries and cakes are sold") is owned by Annie, who graduated from Vancouver Community College and has mastered the art of French pastries and cakes. Along with her talented pastry cook Jake and the masterful Marcus at the espresso machine, she's created a delightful place to pick up such mouth-watering treats as strawberry cheesecake truffles, classic butter croissants, chocolatines or almond chocolatines, mango coconut cakes and milk chocolate passionfruit cakes, and of course your favourite coffee drink.

It takes a village to succeed in any business, big or small, and we're so happy to be able to work with Annie, and others like her to build sustainable and thriving businesses.

Visit them here.

So, here's to an exciting and healthy 2023! We look forward to seeing you at the Roastery soon.

Gillian and Peter
